My Vision
SCHOOLS
I will apply the skills I have developed in business to build a higher level of collaboration between the City Schools of Decatur and the City Commission.
As our community changes, I know first hand that it is absolutely critical that the city and the school system work together as a team in the best interests of City of Decatur residents.
Partnering with the school board ensures that the city assesses it’s future capital expenditures and considers any future annexation and its impact on the city and its schools.
SENIORS
I believe we must find ways to keep housing affordable for seniors so they can afford to continue living in their homes. It is great for property values to rise in our community, but we need to be mindful of the impact this can have on our seniors who have helped make Decatur what it is today.
SAFETY
I will work tirelessly to give Decatur’s law enforcement and fire personnel the resources and support they need to continue to protect public safety and preserve the small town feel of our community.
What makes Decatur great is that residents feel safe walking on our streets and relaxing in and around their homes. Continuing to provide this safe environment will remain a key focus.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
I moved to the City of Decatur because of its diversity. As our community and the areas around it grow and change, we need to always be mindful of the importance of diversity and the need to ensure every Decatur resident is treated fairly and with respect. I will work to keep this concern at the forefront of our city’s policies. Decatur has a wonderful history as a diverse community where people from all different backgrounds can live, learn, play and worship together and I will work to make sure that continues.
“City of Decatur has a vibrant and diverse culture and I want to use my experience with the city to protect the vibrancy and diversity we love in a time of rapid growth and change“

A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN

I believe that to keep Decatur great, we each have a role to play. That’s why I am interested to work with and represent the citizens of District 2.
While volunteering at the City of Decatur schools, serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Executive Committee of the Decatur Business Association and the Winnona Park Neighborhood Association, I have developed an appreciation for what matters to our residents and to my family. Built on the strength of our citizens, volunteers, business owners and leaders, Decatur is a great place to live, work and play. The next few years will present challenges to the success we’ve had, but also opportunities for the continued evolution of our community. I have a vision for the future that maintains the uniqueness of our City and includes careful planning for its inevitable growth and development.
I believe that to keep Decatur great, we each have a role to play. That’s why I am interested to work with and represent the citizens of District 2. My wife and I chose Decatur to raise our family, establish friendships, and enjoy the community and, like most of you, we have watched our City grow. I believe that my professional experience in corporate finance coupled with being “dad” to a first and second grader at Winnona Park Elementary School provide me with a unique perspective when dealing with some of the City’s upcoming challenges. Over the upcoming weeks and months, I look forward to sharing my ideas, listening to your vision and understanding how we can work together to continue to keep Decatur great.
